I found this blurb in a press release from Verizon:

How many of you are doing thermal characterization of your equipment in
you data centers and closets to maximize cooling flow and minimize heat
generation? Cable placement can have a significant impact on these
things, so the move to Converged Enhanced Ethernet will have an impact as InfiniBand and Fibre Channel give way to a single transport.
The focus on this matter becomes more intense as more equipment is jammed into already crowded spaces. Start working with your equipment vendors the way Verizon is and start mandating more efficient hardware.
